Charities Member Spotlight: Lisa White

Lisa Loves Homes and Lisa Loves Helping. This month we are proud to showcase Lisa White for her tremendous contributions to Ivy Community Charities. Lisa has been a member of Charities since 2015 and immediately became active in the fundraising and program activities of our organization. In 2019, Charities established a Memorandum of Understanding with Bowie State University (BSU) that included a pledge to establish a scholarship fund in collaboration with the Iota Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In the same year, Lisa presented a $1,000 check to launch the scholarship endowment along with then Interim Executive Director W. Chris Stewart. Our goal is to raise $5,000 each year and to capitalize the endowment at $25,000 in 2024. Charities’ Giving Tuesday 2021 contributions will support the BSU endowment fund.

This year as we began the fundraising initiatives to support the Ivy Village Incubator for Nonprofit Excellence, we solicited members, friends and businesses to participate in the 35th Anniversary Celebration as sponsors at different levels. Lisa White, Realtor, was the first and only individual or business thus far to donate at the Pearl Level with a contribution of $5,000. She also organized and sponsored Jazz Under the Stars, a fundraising event held in July at the Country Club at Woodmore which helped us to exceed our one-year fundraising goal.

Lisa’s philanthropic initiatives extend beyond Charities. She is an avid and annual contributor to the National Children’s Hospital where her niece was a patient. In addition to being a stellar realtor, Lisa is a Co-Chair for Iota Gamma Omega Chapter’s Economic Legacy Committee that has offered numerous workshops to support the financial stability of citizens residing in and businesses established in Prince George’s County, Maryland, which Charities funds.
